Sunmi and Girls' Generation's Tiffany will be joining Mnet's newest survival program "Girls Planet 999" as K-Pop Masters!
"Gilrs Planet 999" is a program surrounding female Korean, Chinese, and Japanese contestants who have the same dream of debuting in an idol group despite having different languages and cultures. Their growth as they head towards their goal will unfold in the imaginary world name "Girls Planet".
Mnet released a video on June 9 that introducing the show's host Yeo Jin Goo as the Planet Master, a guide who will connect Girls Planet with the global viewers.
Yeo Jin Goo shares, "The grand story of the 99 Korean, Chinese, and Japanese girls, who have the one dream of becoming K-pop idols will unfold. I've taken on the role of the Planet Master, who will act as the stepping stone between the girls and the Planet Guardians, who eil support and protect the girls' dreams".
The actor also shares his experience of chasing after his dreams, "I went to countless auditions when I was young, and I did not pass a lot of them. I sometimes got hurt and worried a lot about insignificant things. There were times I hated my voice during my puberty, so I didn't talk for awhile. I think actors and K-pop idols alike are people who have to be evaluated by the public. As the Planet Master, I'll encourage these girls by their sides as much as I can when they have difficult times, and I'll cheer for them. I hope those girls can also be comforted at least a little bit".
The video also teases Sunmi and Tiffany as the show's K-pop Masters, who will be the girls' role models and mentors. Referring to them as the frontrunners of K-pop. Yeo Jin Goo shares, "I felt like I was watching TV. My friends are fanatic about them, and I'm also a huge fan. I'm very delighted to be part of this long journey with them. I could already feel a great sense of responsibility from them, and I thought that I should also show them a positive side of myself as well".
